Data Protection Information
We collect personal data when you visit this website. We also collect personal data when you contact us to inquire about the academic conference Experimental Finance 2020 or the Experimental Finance Summer School 2020 (the events). The following paragraphs outline why and how we use the data we collect, as well as our measures to protect your personal data. They also inform you about your rights. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you might have.
The conference and summer school are jointly organized by Univ.-Prof DDr. Jürgen Huber, Dr. Christian König gen. Kersting, Matthias Stefan, PhD, and Dr. Zwetelina Illiewa (we). We are supported by the Society for Experimental Finance Wissenschaftsförderungsverein (SEF).
Please direct your inquiries about data protection to Christian König gen. Kersting.
Data Collection Purposes
Data collection and processing is required for the fulfillment of the participation contract for the two events as well as for the handling of any requests prior to entering into the contract. If required personal data is not provided, you cannot participate in the conference or the summer school.
In more detail, we collect personal data for two purposes:
- We collect data which is necessary to serve this website.
- We collect data which is necessary to run the conference and the summer school.
We need to collect personal data to respond to inquiries about the events, to handle manuscript submissions, registrations, payments, and cancellations. Furthermore, we require personal data to organize the events themselves (e.g. dietary requirements) and keep registered participants informed about updates, changes and any other announcements with direct connection to the conference and summer school.
Access to personal data is limited to the organizers of the events as well as the members of the SEF who are supporting the organization (e.g. handle financial transactions, etc.). We share limited personal data of participants with organizations that support the events financially, so they can verify the adequate use of funds. The personal data which is collected when browsing this website (see below) is shared with our hosting provider STRATO AG. A data processing contract is in place.
Data Storage Period
We store your personal data from the time you first provide it. We keep it as long as is necessary for the organization of the two events. It may be necessary to keep your data beyond the conference and summer school dates in order to facilitate post-event procedures (e.g. billings). We are committed to not keeping your data for longer than necessary.
You have the right to request access to the data we store about you. You also have the right to request rectification or erasure of your personal data. You may also request a restriction of data processing as well as object to your data being shared with any other party.
As mentioned before, requests for erasure, restriction of data processing, or objecting to data portability may make it impossible to take part in the events.
In as far as we process data based on point (a) of Article 9(2) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
We process different data, depending on how you interact with us.
If you visit this website, we store your IP address, operating system and browser user-agent together with a timestamp. Our server logs also include which pages were requested and whether these requests were served successfully. We do not analyze this data under normal circumstances. We reserve the right to analyze the data to be able to detect denial of service attacks and respond accordingly.
If you inquire about the events (whether you are registered or not), we process the data you voluntarily provide. This may include your name, e-mail address, telephone number and company or university affiliation. This information is often automatically included in e-mail signatures for example. We process this data as far as it is necessary to respond to your inquiry.
If you submit your manuscript for the conference through the SEF website, we have access to the data you provide. This includes the manuscript itself, author names, affiliations and a contact e-mail address.
If you register for either event through the SEF website, we have access to the data you provide. This includes the time you registered, your e-mail address, whether you are a member of the SEF (or not), your name, whether you are eligible for a student discount, whether you have special dietary requirements, your academic degree, your affiliation(s), and your job title.
Please be reminded that access to this data is neccessary to be able to organize and hold the events. You are free not to share this data with us. However, if you do not share it, we may not be able to serve you.
